The County Fair

As a homeschooler we were given the royal treatment at the county fair.  Nora Lee and I had never been, so we thought we would check it out.  They were actually selling fried watermelon.  Um, what?!

Here are the cool things from the day.

The fair had a "living library" with a program giving kids ride tickets in exchange for book reports of some kind.  For Nora Lee's age group, she could have a book read to her and then draw a picture of the book.  This ended up being a huge advantage because she got a ride ticket for each book she read (maximum of six books).  She did all six and rode rides all afternoon (many of which cost $7 each!)  She got about $42 in rides for that project!  Plus, as homeschoolers, we got free (and early) admission to the fair!  Hot dog!
