Magnets

We have recently subscribed to the Magic School Bus science program. Each month we are sent a packet of instructions and materials that focus on an area of science.

This month the subject was magnets. Nora Lee had a lot of fun working with magnets and iron shavings. We collected things from around the house to see if they were magnetic. She was surprised how the poles on magnets either attract or repel one another.

French Class

This week, the french class at park day held a big french festival. Each child in the class studied and presented on a country where french is spoken. They made posters and brought food from that region as well.

The Human Body

Nora Lee and I have been studying the human body both at home and last week at one of the park days.

Here the kids have created the human body. Each child would do a different activity that takes place in the body. For example, the first child was the mouth and they "chewed" up the food in a plastic bag. Then the next one added some water as saliva. The next one pushed it down the esophagus and so on. When the bag of cereal got to the last person it had been completely broken down and pushed out the other side!

Geology Park Day

A few weeks ago, the topic at one of our park days was geology and gems. Kids got to bring gems from home and they studied different kinds of stones.

This stone was so porous that it would absorb the moisture from Jessica's lip and stick to it!

Nora Lee's Photography

Here are the latest pictures that Nora Lee has taken. Her framing has really improved and I'm getting so much joy from seeing her perspective of the world.
